Virgin on givin' up
The quest for a sponsor was proving ever frustrating.
I still had a residual hope and belief that Richard Branson would come to my rescue. After all, what could be more appropriate than Branson’s passion for exploration and his plans for Virgin Galactic.
A garden called Virgin Territory, maybe? I wrote in 2000 and received a lovely and polite, but firm rebuttal from his right hand man, corporate affairs director Will Whitehorn. But it left the door tantalisingly open for a future approach.
Unbowed, with new energy in my garden, I approached the Virgin empire again, but after another rejection and I backed off obligingly.
Obviously I’ll never make Alan Sugar’s apprentice!
