Virgin on givin' up

The quest for a sponsor was proving ever frustrating.

I still had a residual hope and belief that Richard Branson would come to my rescue.  After all, what could be more appropriate than Branson’s passion for exploration and his plans for Virgin Galactic.

A garden called Virgin Territory, maybe?  I wrote in 2000 and received a lovely and polite, but firm rebuttal from his right hand man, corporate affairs director Will Whitehorn.  But it left the door tantalisingly open for a future approach.

Unbowed, with new energy in my garden, I approached the Virgin empire again, but after another rejection and I backed off obligingly.

Obviously I’ll never make Alan Sugar’s apprentice!
